Alison Bowler graduated from Middlesex University in 1989 with a degree in French Literature, Film and Theatre and then completed a Post Graduate Certificate of Education in French and Performing Arts at the University of Reading. 

Alison lived and worked in France for three years, studying Mime with the late Guy Claude Sta, (the co-founder of Les Clowns de l’Espoir) and as a performer working in café theatre as part of the Theatre Company Les Amuses Gueules.   She continues to train in Clown Improvisation and Performance with Nose to Nose .

Alison worked with Inside Out Theatre Company for nearly three years devising and performing various types of theatre: Street Theatre for various festivals and events including Cambridge Children’s Festival; Theatre in Education school tours with "Extend Your Life"  and "Lost in Litter." Ali has also devised and performed a contemporary clown show for children entitled "The Princess and the Pea" in local libraries, nurseries and special school settings.

Alison teaches drama and physical theatre at St Mary's. Her inspirational productions with these children have led them to perform on tour in local schools.
