The East Sussex School of Performing Arts (esspa) is based in the town centre of Bexhill-on-Sea, East Sussex.
We offer classes in all forms of theatre arts for children aged from three years through to adults. We believe that all children should have the opportunity to learn a creative skill which will stretch their imaginations and give them a fit and healthy mind and body. Learning to dance can build self-confidence, improving posture, deportment and attitude. Drama and musical theatre help to develop life skills, preparing the student not only for a performance on stage, but for everyday situations in their future life.
Our extra curricular classes provide children with a friendly and encouraging atmosphere in which they can meet and make friends with other children from a wide area whilst learning strong vocational techniques from a highly qualified staff.
Our children have the opportunity to perform in a large musical theatre production at the De La Warr Pavilion in Bexhill annually and we frequently provide the Glyndebourne Festival Opera and Touring Company with child actors / dancers, giving them professional theatre experience.
ESSPA students have gone into the performing arts as professional dancers, singers and/or actors (often referred to as the triple threat). Some have become choreographers, TV directors, agents or teachers.
All students have the opportunity to enter examinations in Ballet (RAD), Modern Theatre Dance and Tap (ISTD), Acting (LAMDA), GCSE Dance and Drama (AQA) up to and including vocational standard.
